This piece takes its inspiration from the tradition of printed bookplates that would be pasted inside books with the owners name. Many of these bookplates feature people reading, sometimes with an overplayed eroticism, sometimes they are religious in nature and sometimes they are just weird. I wanted to create a screen-print that captured the joy of reading combined with a Victoriana love of technology.
This piece is fairly large and is a mixture of screen printing with painting.
Variable edition of 10 and the image shown is number 2 in the edition.
